Phil Mickelson’s bid for 2 tournament victories in a row was crushed by Bill Hass’ 45 foot birdie on the second playoff hole of the Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club.  Before all of that, Hass had already finished his 2 under par 69 final round and was practicing on the driving range for a potential playoff when Mickelson and Keegan Bradley both dropped long puts to get to the playoff with Hass.  Bradley missed a 15 foot birdie put on the first playoff hole that would have given him the win.  On the second playoff hole, the short par 4 10th Mickelson and Bradley came up short which left them both bad angles to the hole and Hass went long into the rough but his 2nd shot left him with a long birdie putt that would assure him a par at the least.  Bad 3 rd shots for Lefty and Bradley took some pressure off Hass having to make birdie and made par a great score but Hass decided to end the suspense right there by draining the 45 footer to win his first tourney of the year.

Kenny perry also had a big win yesterday on the Champions Tour by 5 strokes at the ACE Classic.
