Big Game Recaps and Previews – March 6th

March is here and the conference tourneys are in full swing. This is my favorite time of year and I can’t wait to watch a ton of basketball this week. Sorry Erin…

RECAPS

MONDAY

Mavericks 91 – Thunder 95

Nowitzki won the shootout, but Durant and Westbrook won the game. Dirk was red hot in the 4th, hitting four 3 pointers but the Thunder scored the final 8 points and closed the deal. The reigning finals MVP finished with 27 points, but it took him 22 shots to get it. The Oklahoma City duo combined for 46 points, including some clutch free throws from Westbrook in the final minute to ice the game. The Thunder are now 16-1 at home and have a 4.5 game lead over the Spurs for the best record in the West.

PREVIEWS

TUESDAY

Big East Tournament 1st Round (All day): Can Connecticut do it again? The Huskies find themselves once again having to play on the first day of games and needing to win 5 games in 5 days to defend their title. I doubt lighting can strike twice, but any team with Jeremy Lamb and Andre Drummond is dangerous.

WEDNESDAY

Big 12 Tournament 1st round (6:00 and 8:30): In the first game, Texas A&M and Oklahoma play for the right to play Kansas on Thursday. In the second game, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech play for the right to go up against Missouri. Not much of a reward there. Oklahoma State probably has the best chance to pull a second round upset, but don’t hold your breath.

See you Thursday!
