Oh. Hey guys! This feels a little weird, but let’s go with it. Yeah, I’m pretty tired from last night too, but what great basketball that was! Let’s take a look at what’s in store for today!
One upset in the first day of the ACC Tournament as 4-12 Virginia Tech knocked off 8-8 Clemson 68-63. Maryland won easily over Wake Forest 82-60 and NC State handled business against Boston College 78-57. Miami and Georgia Tech were both invited to join the Big Ten after the Hurricanes defeated the Yellow Jackets 54-36. Yes, I said 36.
Today North Carolina gets Maryland at noon, NC State gets another shot at a big win against Virginia at 2, Duke plays Virginia Tech at 7 and Miami and FSU wrap things up at 9.
Update: UNC beats Maryland 85-69, but the big story was that John Henson didn’t play in the 2nd half with an injured wrist. No word on if he will play tomorrow yet.
Update2: NC State upsets Virginia giving their NCAA tournament a much needed quality win. Will it be enough or do they need to knock off UNC tomorrow?
Not much excitement here as the top 3 seeds and Texas advanced as Kansas defeated Texas A&M 83-66, Missouri beat Oklahom State 88-70, Baylor beat Kansas State 82-74 and Texas beat Iowa State 71-65.
Today, Baylor squares off against Kansas at 7:30 and Missouri gets Texas at 10:00.
The Big East is currently leading for most entertaining tournament so far with an OT and 2OT game yesterday.
Louisville beat Maquette 84-71, Cincinnati beat Georgetown 72-70 (2OT), Syracuse beat UConn 58-55 and Notre Dame beat South Florida 57-53 in OT.
Syracuse face Cincinnati at 7:00, while Louisville takes on Notre Dame at 9:00.
Indiana defeated Penn St 75-58, but likely lost senior Verdell Jones in the process. Iowa beat Illinois 64-61, Purdue cruised past Nebraska 79-61 and Minnesota ended Northwesterns bid for their first NCAA tournament in history, 75-68 in OT. Tubby is such a jerk.
Today we get some good matchups as Iowa takes on Michigan State at noon, Indiana gets Wisconsin at 2, Minnesota plays Michigan at 6:30 and Purdue faces off against Ohio State at 9.
Update: Michigan State cruises past Iowa 92-75.
Update 2: Wisconsin knocks down 13 3’s to beat Indiana 79-71.
Well, Mississippi State can kiss it’s NCAA chances goodbye after losing to lowly Georgia yesterday 71-61. This team is a mess and it wouldn’t surprise me to see them go out in the first round of the NIT.
The rest of the higher seeds won with LSU defeating Arkansas 70-54, Alabama escaping South Carolina 63-57 and Ole Miss beating Auburn 68-54.
Today Kentucky gets LSU at 1, Alabama plays Florida at 3, Tennessee plays Ole Miss at 7:30 and Vanderbilt gets Georgia at 10.
Update: Kentucky looked shaky in the first half, but survived LSU 60-51.
Basketball all day!!
