The Morning Dump: 3/16/12

Day 1 of the NCAA tourney is in the books and the biggest news was the upset that didn’t happen.  What the hell was up with the refs in the UNC-Asheville/Cuse game?  I get that close calls have to be made at a quick pace but there were just too many bad calls late in that game for a crew that should be top-notch.  A #1 seed should have fallen yesterday.

I listen to sports radio stations from around the country every morning and AM570 Fox Sports LA is currently giving out copies of Adam Sandler’s movie “Jack and Jill” to contest winners.  That has to be the worst radio contest ever.

Thank you Southern Miss for continuing to contribute to the idea that all us southerners are racist redneck idiots.  Yelling where’s your green card to a U.S. citizen that just happens to have a hispanic last name is clutch.  The university needs to punish those students hard and invest in better educators to teach your students that the people of  Puerto Rico have been U.S. citizens since 1917.  Thank you Mississippi.

Big time move by Buffalo getting Mario Williams.  They had to give him everything he wanted but they got it done.

Not good for Colt McCoy’s confidence when your boss comes out and says they really wanted th #2 pick.

Roy Halladay insists his arm is fine after his latest poor spring showing.  The pressure of pitching under expectations is getting to him.

The Blazers release the forever injured Greg Oden yesterday.  I hope he can get healthy and play in the NBA again but I just don’t think his knees will allow that.

Good to see Crosby back on the ice last night.  The NHL really needs him healthy.

Last night I watch the NCAA games online and the movie “Game Change” on HBO.  Great movie with a great cast.  Ed Harris as John McCain and Julianne Moore as Palin were perfectly cast.  Woody Harrelson as political advisor Steve Schmidt stole the movie.
