The Morning Dump: 3/19/12

I hope you all had a great weekend filled with basketball and good times.  Now get back to work.

Matt Flynn (AP)

I love the Matt Flynn signing for Seattle.  They get a starter and they only sign him to a 3 year contract which has only the first 2 years guaranteed.  Smart move by them not to sign him to a 5-6 year deal.  I wish the LSU product good luck and hope he turns that 3 year deal into a big time deal.

Does anyone else think that Kyle Orton and Jason Campbell are regretting signing as backups already?  There will be a good starting job open up in the next 3 days.

Bryce Harper (Andrew Harnik/The Washington Times)

Bryce Harper will start the season in Triple-A for the Nats.  Just a small misstep in his track to stardom.

Derek Fisher has reached a buyout with the Houston Rockets.  He had not reported since he was traded by the Lakers on Thursday.  Is his career over?

Sydney Crosby is 3 games in to his comeback.  Looks great.  I hope it last.

TCU football coach Gary Patterson will test his players when they get back from spring break.  This is steaming from the increased pressure on the team from the drug dealing scandal last month.

Brian Vickers #55

Nice win for the Blue Deuce yesterday.  My boy Clint Bowyer is looking good in that Toyota this year and it was nice to see Brian Vickers back in a car with a good run.

A couple of points on guys out of the tournament…

Robbie Hummel’s college career is over.  Tough kid who overcame 2 torn ACLs almost got Purdue into the Sweet 16.

I am a big Rick Majerus fan and I think he is one of the best coaches in college basketball.  Good run by his team to stay close to MSU yesterday.

Rick Majerus and St. Louis (Mel Evans/Associated Press)

Big time wins by #15 seeds Lehigh and Norfolk State over #2 seeds that those kids will remember forever.

Have a great day.

  1. Fisher will probably end up right back on the Lakers.

    • That can’t happen, think there is a rule that he couldn’t go back there until July with how the trade went down and the buyout.
