Monday Morning Golf Report: RBC Heritage

Carl Pettersson took control of the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head on Saturday and never let go of the lead.  His 2-under 69 on the final round was enough to give him a 5 stroke victory over Zach Johnson.  The win was Pettersson’s 5th on the PGA Tour, tying him with Jasper Parnevik’s Swedish record.  I doubt Pettersson will be able to match Parnevik’s other record of most careers derailed by setting your nanny up with Tiger Woods. I love that Pettersson looks more like the golfers you might encounter at your local municipal course on the weekend, banging out 3 chili dogs at the turn and downing beers he sneaks from his golf bag but the big Swede can play.  Pettersson has been quoted saying “Ultimately, just cause you don’t look like an athlete doesn’t mean you’re not an athlete, We’re not running a marathon out here, we’re walking 18 holes.”  He is my kind of golfer.

In other news from the RBC Heritage, Luke Donald has again given up his World Number 1 ranking to Rory Mcllroy after finishing tied for 37th.  I see these 2 going back and forth with the #1 ranking all season.
