Did you hear the one about the peacock and the Gypsy? Neither did I. Let’s talk about sports instead, ok?
Thunder 106 Lakers 114 (2 OT):
Let’s first talk about Metta World Peace‘s elbow on James Harden. Here is a link to the video, it was really ugly. Harden did not return to the game with a concussion and World Peace will certainly face discipline from the league. The Malice at the Palace was eight years ago, but once you get suspended for an entire season the tolerance level for this stuff goes down a bit. Hopefully James Harden will be OK soon, but as we’re finding out these concussions can be extremely dangerous to a players long term health. I expect World Peace to get a suspension of about ten games, but won’t be surprised if Stern hits him even harder.
The rest of the game was uneventful. Well, at least until the Thunder blew a 17 point 4th quarter lead and then lost in double overtime. Kobe Bryant shook off a terrible shooting night to hit two huge threes late while also distributing the ball well. His defense on Russell Westbrook was also impressive as the OKC star was an atrocious 3/22 from the floor. Kevin Durant had a very un-Kevin Durant like game, taking 34 shots from the floor while only hitting 11. Devin Ebanks played him tough in the 4th quarter and overtimes, but I’m not sure that’s a matchup the Lakers want to stick with too long if they face the Thunder in the playoffs.
Rangers 3 Senators 2 (series tied 3-3)
Daniel Alfredsson returned to the Senators lineup, but the Rangers still came out on top to force a game 7 Thursday night. There was some controversy in this one as Ottawa’s second goal was allowed despite appearing to have been kicked in. After the game Rangers goalie, Henrik Lundqvist did his best impersonation of the jumbo and claimed conspiracy.
“It’s unbelievable. It still upsets me because we had this game, then they get a chance. Someone wants them back in the game, obviously, because there’s no other explanation.”
He probably doesn’t think Dwight Howard had back surgery either.
Panthers at Devils (Fla leads 3-2, 7:00 NBCSN)
Come on Panthers, finish this thing off I’ve got some serious trolling to do. In the last game in Florida, New Jersey fans threw rats on the ice to try and get a delay penalty on the home team. You can’t spell classy without, a-s-s.
Bruins at Capitals (Game 7, 7:30 CBC)
I’m not really sure what channel that is, but we’ve got a game 7! This series has been really good, and I expect a classic final game. In my first preview for this series I said that Washington had a disadvantage in net. Boy was I wrong. Braden Holtby has been terrific so far and the Capitals will need another great game from him to advance.
See ya Thursday!
