Bradley Defeats Pacquiao: Jumbo’s Thoughts On The Fight

Even Bradley and the Ref looked shocked.

Timothy Bradley beat Manny Pacquiao in a very questionable split decision last night to win the WBO welterweight title.  Pacquiao was robbed by the only 2 people who thought Bradley won, judges C.J. Ross and Duane Ford.  Pacquiao landed more punches and controlled the fight for all 12 rounds but he lost the fight and he has no one to blame but himself.  But he was robbed you say.  How can he be to blame?  If you park your car in a bad neighborhood and leave your windows open with your laptop on the front seat and someone jacks it then you are to blame.  Pacquiao left his windows open.

Manny Pacquiao may have landed more punches but he let Bradley control the first  minute of each round.  Bradley threw more punches and was the aggressor.  He pushed, chased and harassed Pacquiao all over the ring.  Boxing judges like that.  If a fight goes to the cards then the aggressor will get the favorable decision more times than not.  Was it the wrong decision?  Yes, but it is what it is.

Pacquiao’s camp either let him receive the fight from Bradley by not telling him to attack or couldn’t get him to be aggressive.  I don’t know.  All I know is that if you let the fight go to the scorecards then you are giving the aggressive fighter an advantage.

After watching the fight a couple of times I still have it 9-3 in favor of Pacquiao and that will not change because Pacquiao was never not in control of the fight but Bradley was clearly more aggressive and that had to be what the 2 judges that had the fight in his favor were scoring.

The only other excuse is that David Stern is now involved in boxing.

The rematch should be on Nov. 10th.  Let’s hope Pacquiao creates the pace instead of just riding it.

  1. “Manny Pacquiao may have landed more punches but he let Bradley control the first minute of each round.” This isn’t entirely true. This happened the first few rounds, but after Bradley felt Pac’s speed and power, he started to give Pac respect and backed off the rest of the fight. It was clear that fatigue kicked in for Bradley after the fourth round. Pacquiao controlled most of the fight, it wasn’t the other way around.

  2. Don’t get me wrong because I thought Pacquiao won easy but he DID let Bradley dictate the beginning of each round. All I was pointing out was that was what I think the 2 judges who gave the fight to Pacquiao were awarding with the rounds. Bradley’s aggression. Thanks for reading and come back.

  3. Like you I watched the fight closely 3 times. I hate to even entertain any excuses for how Bradley managed to take home the win after losing what seems like 11 of the 12 rounds. But you made a good point about what the 2 dummy judges were seeing. After the announcement, I was waiting for someone to say. Sorry everyone! We were just joking hahaha.

  4. I watch the fight several times and also came to a conclusion that Bradley didn’t win. Pacman definitely won. The only reason I can think of Bradley winning is there must be some personal or financial gain for the judge. Anyway, if I was Pacman I wouldn’t rematch and maybe just retire. I think there is more to life for him to live and enjoy. He already proved himself time and time again. I’m happy for Bradley but I just don’t think he won.

  6. The 2 judges are not human coz they dont have clean conscience. dont know how they can sleep. Their lives will be a nighmare coz everywhere they go they will be branded as cheaters. Hope theyy dont get paid by by ARUM. After all money is money and like Judas some people will sell their friends for a lot more of money.

  7. I think paquio was forgiving bradley and did not want to hurt him more. If they decide to go through with a rematch I feel sorry for bradley his going to get paquiao at 100 percent this time no more chances buddy.

    • The rematch should be interesting. If Pacquiao wins then we get Pacquaio/Bradley 3 but if Bradley wins then what happens. If I am Bradley’s camp then I am selling to my fighter that NO ONE thinks you should have that belt and it’s your chance to prove them wrong.

      • They going to rob pa man again next time that’s for sure

      • I just hope that if we have another Pacquiao/Bradley fight it never gets to the judges cards. Maybe an epic battle ala Hearns/Hagler or Leonard/Duran can save boxing.

  8. I say get glasses for the two judges (both over 70 years old) who scored in favor of Bradley. Nuff said.

  9. It was the old boxing bag job for the rematch WWF lite

  10. Judge Duane Ford came out and insulted everyone in boxing by saying “if this were American Idol Pacquiao would have won”. So 3-people are right and the rest of boxing fans (including the greatest boxers) are all wrong? This whole thing smells really bad.

  11. I only started watching boxing again because of Pacman. boxing hasnt been a true spot in years, thats why mma is taking over, its fight till someone a clear winner, not based on what racist judges think

  12. They should banned ch cj Ross and duane ford from boxing…

  13. I here ya. Like Teddy Atlas said afterwards “It’s either incompetence or corruption.” Thanks for reading.
