I don’t have much for you tonight. That was a really fun game and I hope we get 5 more just like it…
The Miami Heat came out red hot again in the first half, only to let the Thunder back in the game. Shane Battier continued his hot shooting, scoring 17 points on 5/7 shooting form downtown.
Dwayne Wade played better tonight, scoring 24 points on 10/20 shooting, adding 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former Finals MVP was aggressive early and made the Thunder at least respect him.
The Thunder’s big 3 played well, but that was it. Kevin Durant was great again, scoring 32 points on 22 shots. That’s a hell of an efficient game. Russell Westbrook had 27 points on 25 shots and added 6 assists. That’s a lot of shots for your point guard, but Westbrook is a unique player. He’s never afraid to shoot, which is a gift and a curse. James Harden added 21 points off the bench, but no one else on the Thunder scored in double digits.
Miami was extremely balanced on offense, with James, Wade, Bosh and Battier all scoring over 16 points. They have to feel good going back to South Beach tied 1-1 with neither James nor Wade playing exceptionally well.
Shane Battier is averaging 17 points per game in the Finals. No, seriously.
Speaking of Lebron James, can’t we all just stop with this “is he clutch” nonsense? The three time MVP made several huge shots and a pair of clutch free throws in a two point game with 7 seconds left. He’s not going to make every shot, but Lebron is clearly the best player in the NBA. Kevin Durant is a very, very close second though.
Miami now has three games in a row at home. I really don’t like the 2-3-2 format, but a split in the first two games is a great sign for this series going the distance. Please, please let this happen. Game 3 is on Sunday. Try and catch your breath until then.
