The Morning Dump: 6/19/12

Rogers Clemens was found not guilty of perjury charges yesterday.  The feds were going after Clemens for lying to them about steroid use.  This is the 3rd big name athlete (Clemens, Bonds, Armstrong) that the federal government has spent millions trying to charge or convict and come up with nothing.

South Carolina ended it’s 22 game NCAA postseason win streak last night with a 2-1 loss to Arkansas.  The Gamecocks will play Kent State to get keep their hopes of a 3rd straight national title alive.

For the first time since 2001 Tiger Woods is not the highest paid athlete in the world.  Floyd Mayweather earned $85 million last year for 2 fights.  The rest of the top 5 are Pacquiao $62m, Woods $59.4m, Lebron $53m and Federer $52.7m.

The idiocy that is the Charlotte Bobcats continues.  The Bobcats have reportedly hired St. Johns assistant Mike Dunlap as their new head coach.  This means 2 things.  Either no one else would take the job or Michael Jordan owes Dunlap a gambling debt and this is how he is paying it.

What is worse than stadium violence, racism or throwing fireworks on the field of play?  Wearing sponsored underwear.  Nicklas Bendtner was fined 100,000 pounds for wearing underwear with a gaming books logo.

Guess who is the early odds favorite for next months British Open?  Tiger Woods.  I think he is the favorite to win the last tourney he plays before and to come in with big expectations and falter.
