Each week I will pick the top games in the country against the spread and post my results. My BetOnline.com account is loaded and I am ready to go.
#9 South Carolina (-6.5) at Vanderbilt 7pm ESPN
Vandy is sitting at a 6.5 dog at home and I am taking that action. I like South Carolina a lot this season, but opening up with a prime time conference game is an upset waiting to happen.
Washington State at BYU (-11.5) 10:15pm ESPN
Mike Leach returns to coaching at his Alma Mater, WSU. Both the Cougars should put up solid offensive numbers, but the WSU Cougars will have no chance at slowing down the BYU Cougars. I think Leach’s offense will give me enough to cover the 11.5. BONUS BET: Over 65.5 All Day Long
N.C. State vs. Tennessee (-3.5) 7pm ESPNU
The loss of All-SEC WR Da’Rick Rodgers will hurt and the Wolfpack defense will attack the overrated Tyler Bray. N.C. State will cover the +3.5 easily and will start what could be a double digit win season.
#24 Boise State at #13 MSU (-7) 8pm ESPN
Spartan Stadium will make the Broncos miss the friendly blue confines of Idaho and the Spartans will roll. Their BIG 10 rushing attack will crush the Broncos D-line and the game will never be in doubt.
#14 Clemson (-3) vs. Auburn 7pm ESPN
Clemson’s win over Auburn last year sparked a 10-win season and I think they can do it again. The loss a Sammy Watkins will hurt, but I think Clemson’s Heisman candidate, Tajh Boyd can get them enough points to win.
I love watching Toledo play and I love it when Rich Rod is coaching an offense, so this game will be fun for me. I think Rich Rod will thrive in the PAC 12 and will have the Wildcats back up front soon.
Ohio U at Penn State (-6) 12pm ESPN
I am rooting for Bill O’Brien this year, but I like Frank Solich’s Bobcats to be a BCS buster this year. I know Beaver Stadium will be rocking (just no Neil Diamond) and rolling, but when the adrenaline comes down the weak Penn State offense will be too much for them to overcome. Ohio wins outright.
Navy vs. Notre Dame (-18) 9am CBS
I like ND to win, but their offense scares me enough to think that Navy will be within 2 TDs when the buzzer goes off. I just hope that an international incident is not triggered in Ireland by ND’s hideous uniforms.
I really like the Wolverines in this game and would have bet it if the spread was lower, but at +14 it is a no brainer. Denard Robinson will begin his Heisman campaign with a solid game against the great Alabama D and I think Michigan will give them trouble.
