Jumbo’s 2012 AFC Predictions

AFC EAST

Team

Prediction

Last Year

New England Patriots

12-4

13-3

Buffalo Bills

9-7

6-10

N.Y. Jets

6-10

8-8

Miami

3-13

6-10

I don’t see any AFC East team pushing the Pats this season.  I like the moves Buffalo made to improve their D and I think it will get them to the playoffs.  The Jets are going to take a step back with their aging D and the Tebow Show.  Miami is a wreck and will be competing for the top pick in the 2013 draft.

AFC SOUTH

Team

Prediction

Last Year

Houston Texans

12-4

10-6

Jacksonville Jaguars

8-8

5-11

Tennessee Titans

7-9

9-7

Indianapolis Colts

4-12

2-14

If Matt Schaub stays healthy the Texans are dangerous.  They are the most complete team in the league.  I have a feeling that Jacksonville will surprise with Gabbert and Blackmon playing well together.  The Titans take a step back because I don’t think they did anything to improve this offseason.  The Colts will be better, but they have some growing pains to endure before they get back to contention in the AFC.

AFC NORTH

Team

Prediction

Last Year

Pittsburgh Steelers

11-5

12-4

Baltimore Ravens

10-6

12-4

Cincinnati Bengals

9-7

9-7

Cleveland Browns

2-14

4-12

The Steelers will thrive in Todd Haley’s offense and Big Ben will have a great season.  Baltimore will be very good but their offense will have to win them games instead of their defense.  The Bengals are on the way up but they will have to wait until next season to get back to the playoffs.  Cleveland will be on the clock for Barkevious Mingo with the #1 pick in the 2013 draft.

AFC WEST

Team

Prediction

Last Year

Denver Broncos

11-5

8-8

San Diego Chargers

9-7

8-8

Oakland Raiders

6-10

8-8

Kansas City Chiefs

4-12

7-9

If Manning’s arm strength keeps improving and his neck stays fused, the Broncos are the class of the west.  If that stuff doesn’t happen, then they are in trouble.  The Chargers will finish middle of the pack and Norv Turner will finally be removed.  I like Dennis Allen, but I don’t like the Raiders at all this year.  The Chiefs are bad.

AFC Playoffs

  1. New England Patriots
  2. Houston Texans
  3. Pittsburgh Steelers
  4. Denver Broncos
  5. Baltimore Ravens
  6. Buffalo Bills

AFC Champion:  Houston Texans

The Texans will have a healthy Matt Schaub come this postseason and will make a deep playoff run.

  1. Good pick but you can’t count out Pittsburgh, they still have their defense and the offense will be a lot better. Pats will be the Pats do who knows. Lots are saying the Chiefs are supposed to be better and sneak into the playoffs. AFC Champion: Steelers

    • It would not suprise me at all if the Steelers won the AFC. I am not impressed with the Chiefs and I think they will be very bad this year. Thanks for reading.

      • I agree with your assessment of the Chiefs, but I agree with Will on Pittsburgh. I predict three teams from the NFC West make the playoffs with Pitt and Buffalo on the outside looking in.
