Handicapping Week 11

If you’ve been investing with The Sports Dump, you’ve been making some money lately. Week 10 brought us a 4-1 record on Sunday, making us 31-19 on the year. Lets see what this week has in store for our wagers.

Buffalo Bills -1.5 vs. Miami Dolphins

The Bills aren’t as bad of a football team as people think, their coaching staff has just completely misused the talent that the team has on both sides of the football. I thought the Dolphins would be a 3-4 win team when the season started, but I’ve since been proven wrong. They have a stingy defense and are overachieving a bit on offense, but they are significantly in better shape than the lower tier teams in the NFL. I think Bush comes back from his first quarter benching last week and puts up huge numbers against the Bills porous run D. Take the Dolphins and take the points.

Carolina Panthers +1.5 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The main difference between these two teams that I see when I watch them play is the level of intensity that each team brings to the field. The Bucs team doesn’t want you to gain a yard, and wants to run the ball down your throat and then throw a bomb to Vincent Jackson. The Panthers (namely Cam Newton) want to just get the game over with and head home for the week. I can’t invest in Cam and the Panthers, which is sad because I really like the Carolina MLB Luck Kuechly. Take the Bucs and give the 1.5.

Dallas Cowboys -8 vs. Cleveland Browns

The Cowboys will shut down the passing game of the Browns, and will keep Trent Richardson to human numbers in this game. The difference is that the Browns can’t stop anyone on defense and the Cowboys might be getting healthy on offense. Even if DeMarco Murray doesn’t play, I think Felix Jones has a good day against the Browns and Bryant, Austin and company will excel against the Cleveland secondary. Take the Cowboys and lay the 8.

Saint Louis Rams -3.5 vs. New York Jets

The Rams are coming off of a weird, hard fought divisional game and might be ripe for an upset. However, this week, they play the dysfunctional Jets. There is a lot to not like about the Jets, a bad running game, bad quarterback, bad coach (?), underperforming defense, and a locker room that talks way too much. For all of those reasons I like the Rams to win at home. Take the Rams and give the points.

Kansas City Chiefs +3.5 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

I think this line was affected by the weather on Monday night. The Chiefs had their first lead of the season last week, and looked much better against a pretty good Steeler team, however rain and a sloppy field are a good equalizer. The Bengals are coming off of their best game of the year, after dismantling the Giants, and I think they steamroll the Chiefs in Kansas City. Take the Bengals.
