Lovie Smith Fired

usp-nfl_-green-bay-packers-at-chicago-bears-4_3_r560The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Bears have fired Lovie Smith after 9 seasons.  Smith went 81-63 (.563) and took the Bears to the 2007 Super Bowl, but his Mike Tice led offense did him in.  He is a good coach that showed get a job fairly quickly.

My Replacement Pick:  Bengals DC Mike Zimmer

The Morning Dump: 12/31/12

121230231343-alfred-morris-500-t1-wideHas there ever been a worse ‘Big Game’ QB than Tony Romo?  You would think he would have to win one every once and awhile.

Rookies Alfred Morris and RG3 are now Redskin legends.  They will never pay for a meal in D.C. again.

From a torn ACL to 9 yds short of the single season rushing record.  Adrian Peterson has had a hell of a year.  He would get my MVP vote. and would be my comeback player of the year.

Torii Hunter says having a gay teammate would be “difficult”.  When will we get our 1st openly gay athlete in the 3 major sports?

barry_bondsGreat look at why the best hitter ever deserves to be in the Hall of fame.

The college basketball preseason is over and now we get to the meat of the season…  Conference basketball.

Pat Shurmer Fired

imagesWith “Black Monday” on the horizon, the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that the Cleveland Browns will fire Pat Shurmer (9-22, .290) after today’s game vs. the Steelers.

Shurmer will more than likely be joined in the “Fired Coaches Club” by Norv Turner (SD), Ron Rivera (CAR), Chan Gailey (BUF), Andy Reid (PHI), Romeo Crennel (KC), Mike Munchak (TEN) and Ken Whisenhunt (ARI) fairly quickly.

The Chicago, Oakland, New York Jets and Jacksonville jobs are getting tossed around as soon-to-be open, but I see those coaches staying one for at least one more year.

imagesCAHWE1YYLook for Andy Reid to be a Head Coach in San Diego and Crennel and Turner to be highly sought after coordinators for next season.  Oregon Coach Chip Kelly and Colts OC Bruce Arians are at the top of many team’s wish lists.

Let The Torture Begin!

Torture:

  1. an act committed by a person acting under the color of law specifically intended to inflict severe physical or mental pain or suffering (other than pain or suffering incidental to lawful sanctions) upon another person within his custody or physical control;
  2. “severe mental pain or suffering” means the prolonged mental harm caused by or resulting from – (A) the intentional infliction or threatened infliction of severe physical pain or suffering; (B) the administration or application, or threatened administration or application, of mind-altering substances or other procedures calculated to disrupt profoundly the senses or the personality; (C) the threat of imminent death; or (D) the threat that another person will imminently be subjected to death, severe physical pain or suffering, or the administration or application of mind-altering substances or other procedures calculated to disrupt profoundly the senses or personality;
  3. Making someone watch the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. the Tennessee Titans;

imagesThis is the moment the United States intelligence community has waited on all year.  The week 17 matchup of the Jaguars and Titans looks to be one of the most productive moments in decades for getting valuable information from our captive enemies.  Active C.I.A. Director, Michael J. Morrell thinks that the forced viewing of the game will be a huge turning point in many investigations.  Morrell said “It is a very rare occurrence that you get such a “Perfect Storm” of torture than a Titans/Jaguars game.  I fully expect to learn the whereabouts of no less than 20 high level members of the terrorism community.”  Thank you Jacksonville and Tennessee and God Bless America.
