Handicapping Week 14

We’re reaching the final stretch of the season, I hope your bank account has some ammo left in it. After going a total of 4-2 last week, ours definitely does and we’re going to try and finish strong.

Cleveland Browns -6.5 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Browns are a team that plays decent defense and KC has been bad at offense all year. I expect both teams to run the ball, and I trust Richardson and the Browns team to be much more effective than I do the Chiefs. The Browns will roll in this one. Take the Browns and give the points.

Indianpolis Colts -6 vs. Tennessee Titans

I was wrong to doubt Andrew Luck in his rookie year. The Colts have surprised me all year and you have to be excited if you’re a Colt fan. The Titans haven’t played well all year and the last time these two teams played the Colts won by 6 on the road and I think they have gotten better since that October meeting. Take the Colts and lay the 6 points.

Jacksonville Jaguars  +3 vs. New York Jets

Jacksonville has put together some good halves of football, but just can’t beat some of the better teams. Fortunately for them the Jets aren’t one of the better teams. Sanchise is on a very short leash and I haven’t seen him play well under pressure, ever. Take the Jags and the field goal.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -7 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Doug Martin appears to have hit the proverbial rookie wall. His YPC has decreased over the last 4 or 5 weeks. The Eagles porous front 7 is just what the muscle hamster ordered. I think the Bucs offense will move the ball at will and they will finally be the team that shuts Bryce Brown down.  Take the Bucs and give up the touchdown.

New York Giants -5 vs. New Orleans Saints

I try not to take the previous weeks results into account too often in order to avoid a bit of recency bias, but I don’t think the Giants enjoyed getting beat by the Redskins last week. The loss to Washington really tightened up the division and I think they’ll really come out to prove a point at this point in the season. The Saints last two losses to San Francisco and  Atlanta have really hurt the Saints play off chances. Take the Giants and give the 5 points.
